ISOR in the "New Forms of Public Religion" congress
The last 5th, 6th and 7th September, Maria del Mar Griera, researcher of the ISOR group, has taken part in the congress "New Forms of Public Religion" organised by Religion and Society Research Programme, and celebrated in the Cambridge University (United Kingdom). Apart from presenting the results of one of the current investigations of the research group, she had the chance of participating in diverse discussions which have provided with new ideas to the group's work.
ISOR at the First Bi-Annual Conference of the European Sociological Association 34 Research Network - Sociology of Religion
The
last 3th, 4th and 5th September, three members
of the ISOR group attended the First Bi-Annual Conference of
the European Sociological Association Research Network 34 - Sociology of Religion, 
that was celebrated in
Potsdam (Germany). Gloria García-Romeral, Julia Martínez Ariño and Anna Clot
Garrell, have presented diverse communications with the results of researchs that are being carried out
individually and collectively in the research unit.
Documental "El guru vivent", by Clara Fons Duocastella
19th July has been broadcast the documentary El guru vivent, created and co-directed by the ISOR researcher Clara Fons Duocastella. The documentary offers a portrait of the Sikh community in Hospitalet de Llobregat (a town near Barcelona) and approaches the everyday life of the community within the temple to the audience. The documentary is available here.
ISOR research unit, correspondent for EUREL
The research grou ISOR, through the researcher Julia Martínez, is since June 2012 correspondent for EUREL (Sociological and legal data on religions in Europe) for the Spanish state. The EUREL project, developped by "PRISME-Société, Droit et Religion en Europe" in collaboration with "Groupe Sociétés, Religions, Laïcités",
has the aim to provide up-to-date information on the legal and social status of religion in Europe from an interdisciplinar perspective.
Maria del Mar Griera, awarded with the IDEES prize for her essay on religious pluralism
The editorial angle has published the book entitled "Pluralisme confessional a Catalunya" where the author analyzes the changes in the field of religion and places the recent controversies in a broader historical context. The book has been awarded by the IDEES prize and has been echoed in the press and on the Internet.
Anna Clot Garrell, awarded with the Ninian Smart Prize in MA Religious Studies
The ISOR researcher Anna Clot Garrell has been awarded with the Ninian Smart prize for the best dissertation in Religious Studies in the Politics, Philosophy and Religion Department (Lancaster University, United Kingdom) for the dissertation Exploring New Religious Expressions in Catalunya, supervised by Dr. Andrew Dawson.
Research seminar
Last November 15th, Maria del Mar Griera, member of ISOR, gave the lecture "Beyond the separation of Church and State: the new governance of religious diversity", organized by the research group GRITIM (Grup de Recerca Interdisciplinari sobre Immigració) of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
Presentation of ISOR to master students
Last October, Maria Forteza presented the research group ISOR to the master students of the Departament de Sociologia at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

The last 21st September was presented the book Fills del Concili, Retrat d'una generació de capellans (Sons of the Council. A portrait of a generation of priests), the new publication of Professor Joan Estruch i Gibert and the researcher Clara Fons i Duocastella. The presentation was organised by Editorial Mediterrània and was attended by the authors of the investigation, and also by Ramón Maria Nogués and Mònica Estruch (the director of the publishing company) (from the right side to the left side of the photo).
There is the possibility to have a look at the interview with the authors in the Catalan newspaper El Punt/Avui as well as in the TV programme Els matins de TV3.
Presentation of the book Fills del Concili. Retrat d'una generació de capellans (Sons of the Council. A portrait of a generation of priests) written by Joan Estruch and Clara Fons
The next 21st September the publishing company Editorial Mediterrània will present the book Fills del Concili, Retrat d'una generació de capellans (Sons of the Council. A portrait of a generation of priests) written by Joan Estruch i Gibert and Clara Fons Duocastella. The book exposes the life of seventeen priests, from their seminary entrance to their present position, whose experience of the Second Vatican Council and the following period lies at the centre of the book.
Dissertation defense of Gloria García-Romeral Moreno
Next friday 17th June, Gloria García-Romeral Moreno, member of the ISOR, will defend her PhD dissertation titled "L'acomodació de la pràctica religiosa islàmica. Un estudi a través de les pràctiques funeràries a Catalunya". The dissertation committee will be made up by Dr. Salvador Cardús, Dr. Dolors Bramon and Dr. Ricard Zapata. The event will take place at 11 a.m. at the Sala de Graus de la Facultat de Ciències Polítiques i Sociologia of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
Maria del Mar Griera, awarded with the Manuel Sales i Ferré prize in Sociology
The ISOR researcher Maria del Mar Griera has been awarded with the
Manuel Sales i Ferrer in Sociology (Institut d'Estudis Catalans) for
her Phd thesis entitled "From Religion to Religions. Public policies and
religious minorities in Catalonia".
Jornadas "La diversidad religiosa en la España actual" 4, 5 y 6 de mayo
El grupo de investigación ISOR participará en las jornadas "La diversidad religiosa en la España actual",
organizado por el departamento de Antropologia Social de la Universidad
de Granada. Las jornadas, que se celebrarán los próximos 4, 5 y 6 de
mayo, tienen como objetivo poner en contacto a los equipos de
investigación que durante los últimos años han trabajo sobre diversidad y
minorías religiosas en diferentes comunidades autónomas. La
investigadora Gloria García-Romeral de ISOR presentará los resultados del proyecto "El mapa religiós de Catalunya".
Valoración de la jornada de investigación "Religión y sociedad"
El viernes 25 de marzo se celebró la jornada de investigación "Religió i Societat" organizada por el grupo ISOR. El objectivo de la jornada era reunir jóvenes investigadores e investigadoras que trabajan en Cataluña sobre diversos temas relacionados con la religión, tanto desde una perspectiva sociológica como antropológica. La implicación y el interés de los participantes fue clave para el buen funcionamiento y esperamos poder celebrar otras ediciones en el futur.
Research stay at the CEIFR (EHESS)
Julia
Martínez Ariño, researcher of ISOR, is carrying out a research stay during the months of March, April and May 2011 at the Centre
d'Études Interdisciplinaires des Faits Religieux (CEIFR) of l'École des
Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, one of the most recognized research groups in Sociology of Religion in Europe and worldwide.
Consesión de Proyecto I+D
El ISOR ha recibido la aprobación por parte del Ministerio de Ciencia
e Innovación del proyecto "GEDIVER-IN. La gestión de la diversidad
religiosa en centros penitenciarios y hospitalarios de España", que se desarrollará entre 2011 y 2013. En éste
se analizarán los modelos de acomodación de la diversidad
religiosa en dichas instituciones públicas de internamiento, desde un
estudio comparado entre Catalunya y Andalucía.
